Eyelashes are a fun and simple way to transform a look. Whether your looking for something super natural or full on glam. Yes I know strip lashes aren’t the same as having your lashes professionally done by Glitz & Glamour 😏😭 However it may help you feel a bit more you until i can see you for appointments. Though it may take you a few attempts at first, applying false strip lashes is actually easy and should only take a few minutes once you get the hang of it.
TIP ONE- Apply Your Makeup First
I can see all your faces as I write this.. do my makeup first? it will be ruined 😂
Ok so perhaps not on your first or even second attempt, but once you’ve got the hang of applying them, i would suggest your makeup is applied before putting your false lashes on. The reason for this is it allows you to curl your natural eyelashes and apply a coat of mascara first. Applying mascara will help the eyelashes appear fuller and it will help the false lashes to set when applied.
TIP TWO - Sizing Your Lashes
Pick your preferred lashes. Peel the lashes away from the packaging starting from the outer corner using tweezers. Be sure to measure and trim them to fit your eye shape. Measure the lash against the size of your eye and cut to your preferred length with scissors. The lashes should start a few millimetres away from the corner of your eye and should not go beyond the end of your eye.
Cutting lashes in half and applying them on the outer corner of your eyes will give a natural cat eye look. This also makes it much easier to apply them if your a beginner.
TIP THREE - How To Stop The Annoying False Lash Pop Up
Strip lashes have a tendency to sometimes flick outwards at the corners. A wee tip is to wrap the strip lash around a makeup brush, you will find that the curve of the lashes stays intact to create a more voluminous look. This also makes the strip lash less stiff if it’s a much fuller lash and easy to adjust when your applying.
TIP FOUR - Applying Adhesive
Using the applicator brush, dot the glue along the strip of the lashes.
Always wait 30-40 seconds before putting the lash onto your own eyeslashes. When it’s ready to apply the glue shouldn’t be wet, it will be tacky. Put on some extra glue if you are wearing the lashes for a long period of time for extra strength.
TIP FIVE - Applying The Lashes
The position of the mirror is important for beginners. A handy tip is sit at a table and to have a mirror laid flat on the table with your elbows either side so your looking down. You can use your hands or your tweezers for this. Holding the corner of the lash, gently place the lashes just above your natural lashes but as closely to the lashline as possible. Hold the false lashes in place for 30 seconds. Apply a little more glue to the ends and inner corner of the lashes, so to actually get them to stay down when they stick down.
I’d get yourself a lash applicator, it can make life a bit easier. Especially if you've tried every other trick in the book and still not getting it. It allows you to get really close to your lash line and firmly grips lashes without you squishing them.
TIP SIX - Eyeliner
With eye liner you can fill in the area from where the lashes start near the corner of your eye and continue to apply along your lash line, filling in any gaps as you go along.
TIP SEVEN - Keep Them Looking Fab
You can clean and re-use your Glitz & Glamour LashLux strip lashes. After removing your strip lashes, use a cotton bud either dipped in our eyelash adhesive remover or some RefectoCil oil-free makeup remover to clean the lashes. If you don’t have either of these then mix a drop of washing up liquid to hot water and gently rub the lashes. This will gently wipe away any makeup or glue residue.
TIP EIGHT - Removal
To avoid damage on your own lashes, use cotton buds and oil free makeup remover to remove your falsies, such as RefectoCil. Soak the cotton bud with the remover, and gently rub it on your lash line, the lashes will easily fall off. Once the lashes are off, use RefectoCil longlash balsam to remove the residual glue on your lashes.
Using high quality remover and strip lash glue such as naturalash which is available in clear or black, will help to ensure that you get the most wear out of your false eyelashes. For best results, be sure to clean excess glue from your lashes immediately after removing them. Cleaning your lashes after each use is the best way to extend the life of your eyelashes.
