Makeup Bag Essentials: Luxe Lips

Updated: Apr 21, 2020

I’m working my way thru the makeup bag and I’ve discovered depending on the clients look and eye makeup i have four different lip formulas I like to choose between.

Matte for a smooth and hydrating formula

Gloss for a creamy and light reflecting look

Liquid for a modern lip look

Satin for a sumptuous fuller looking lip

Then the shade:

Nude, from a dreamy nude lipstick to show-stopping creamy beige which perfectly complements a smokey eye.

Pink either a party ready vibrant fuchsia or a subtle light pink. Pink lipstick will suit any occasion.

Red, its a beauty must for any makeup bag! timeless and glamorous.

My Favourites:

mac Ruby Woo - vivid red - matte

charlotte tilbury Kim K.W Hot Lips - light pink/beige nude - glossy

charlotte tilbury Hollywood Lips Best Actress - nude brown - liquid

anastasia beverly hills Liquid Lipstick - Pure Hollywood - mauve nude - liquid to matte finish

charlotte tilbury Kissing Velvet Underground - fuchsia - satin

mac Lipglass - clear - longwearing gloss

I’d recommend for application you use a lip brush with every formula, for a precise finish.

Lip liner is important not only for resizing and reshaping but when you outline your lips you will create a smoother shape for applying your lipstick and avoid the colour bleeding outside the lines. Don’t feel you must splurge on this, I also like to use maybeline lip liner its available in tons of colours and once teamed with a luxury lipstick you really wouldn’t spot the difference. A tip is to outline slightly over your natural lip line if you want to create the illusion of bigger lips.

I like to finish with lip gloss for a plumper-looking pout. My favourite is mac lipglass gloss that can create a glass-like finish or a subtle sheen. Designed to be worn on its own or over lip pencil or lipstick, it's the perfect product for creating shine that most importantly lasts.
