During lockdown I’ve spotted all over social media selfcare posts. It is any activity we do to consciously take care of our mental, emotional and physical health. As women its something we often neglect in our daily routine even though selfcare can improve your mood your health and reduce anxiety.
It’s easy to believe that taking time off for yourself whenever you feel the need to is selfish - it’s not! I’ve come to realise it’s actually critical so that you can be present for your own family and friends. It’s about figuring out what little things help you to refuel yourself. Your probably thinking well how do I fit this into my already manic schedule of homeschooling, work, family, housework. Emphasis on the ”little things“ as a busy working mum for me it needs to be simple so that I can make it a routine and most importantly something enjoyable so I actually want to do it in the first place.
Of course taking care of ourselves requires some products. I run a beauty business its my job to provide you with those self care moments and provide products and tips for you to continue this at home too. However don’t fall into the trap you need the latest gadget and gizmo going, most self care is free!
eat nutritious healthy foods when possible.
exercise - whether it’s to just move around more than usual, walk the dog, go for a jog, cycling or cardio
practise relaxation exercises like yoga or meditation
get enough sleep
up your skin care regime
do something creative
keep track of your health spend time with the important people in your life.
You can find selfcare checklists online if that’s your thing but to me that just gives me another job to do lol. I’m very much looking forward to providing you Glitz & Glamour girls with your pamper sessions again soon, but most importantly I think the main thing here is to do at least “one little thing” you enjoy doing - every day.
Take Care
